About This Course
Explore how galleries discover artists and what gallerists seek in this comprehensive 7-week course, 'The Visiting Critic Program & Professional Practices.' Gain valuable feedback, exposure, and opportunities to connect with four respected art world professionals.
Led primarily online via Zoom by Hannah Root, Director at PACE Gallery (NYC), the course connects artists from around the world. Each Visiting Critic will introduce themselves with a presentation and Q&A session. Artists will showcase their work through online slideshows, and receive feedback from Hannah Root, the curated Visiting Critic, and fellow participants.
The course has been extended to include an additional session with artist and faculty member Jen Hitchings, who will delve deeply into professional practices. Jen will present on topics such as gallery communication, consignments, sales, shipping, and studio logistics. This extra session will provide time for artists to engage in an open dialogue with Jen and their peers, addressing their specific concerns and questions. The final week will also cover websites, email marketing, and social media, with insights from Jen and other faculty members.
This program is designed to inspire new directions in your work, thinking, and process. All sessions will be recorded, allowing artists to review talks and critiques, with chat logs available for reference.
