About This Course
This 6 week course led by artist, writer and critic Andrew Woolbright takes you inside New York City galleries and the larger art world with focused gallery tours, studio visits with artists, and conversations with gallerists. You will learn from artists with rare access to the private studios with the opportunity to to discuss their process, research and studio habits. This course provides a closer look into exhibitions, curation, galleries, and artists studios - aiming to open up conversations and offer transparency to art world issues and topics not often discussed in traditional classrooms. Gallery Walks & Studio Talks will be an exciting six weeks and an opportunity to meet new people, see new galleries and shows and take a closer look into the artist’s studio of four New York artists.
Artists Will:
- Visit the studio of Faculty Andrew Woolbright for discussion on his work and Q&A about his process, research and studio habits
- Visit 6-8 exhibitions in New York City with Andrew Woolbright and class to broaden perspective, see traditional galleries as well as artist run spaces. Select exhibitions will offer a glimpse into the most exciting Fall Shows on view and walkthroughs as a group
- Visit the studio of select artists for discussion on their work and Q&A about their process, research and studio habits
- Meet new peers in New York City and build relationships in the art community
- Have the opportunity to ask questions in the studio with select special guest artists chosen by Faculty Andrew Woolbright

Andrew Paul Woolbright is an artist, gallerist, and Editor-at-Large at the Brooklyn Rail, living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Woolbright is an MFA graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design in painting and is the director of the Lower East Side Gallery Below Grand. He currently teaches at Pratt and School of Visual Arts in New York.
