About this course:

Visiting Critic Program: Artist Run Gallery Edition is an in-person course offering a unique experience to receive in-depth feedback, exposure and connection with NYC based artist run galleries. Class will be a combination of Group Critiques at NYC Crit Club’s Bushwick studio and a series of field trips to artist run gallery spaces in the Lower East Side, Tribeca, and Chelsea! In each field trip, artists will have the opportunity to view current exhibitions together and be invited to talk to Directors and learn about their experience of operating artist run spaces.

During the course, there will be 2 Group Critiques at the NYC Crit Club studio in Bushwick. In these critiques, each artist will have the opportunity to present 2-4 of their artworks to the Visiting Critic invited by Andrew Woolbright. Each Visiting Critic will introduce themselves and be available for a brief Q&A to share about their art world experiences.

This course is a great opportunity for artists to connect and network with a great community of local artists + gallerists!

Artists in this course:

• Field trips to Artist Run Galleries in LES, Chelsea and Tribeca!

• View current gallery exhibitions with faculty + peers during field trips

• Make connections with NYC based artists and gallerists

• Learn how artist run galleries operate

• Receive two opportunities for feedback on artwork from peers, faculty and Visiting Critic
