Financial Aid

Please note, Financial Aid offerings for The Canopy Program are specific to the scale and duration of the project's scope. Our commitment to paying our esteemed faculty a competitive and ethical wage is at the core of our mission in addition to offering high value, intimate and curated experiences to artists at a fraction of the costs of higher education models. Additional costs are administrative costs, taxes and the culmination of the four New York City pop-up Group Shows at the end of the program!

For those in need, we offer three (3) options for Financial Aid:

  • BIPOC Scholarships

    • BIPOC Scholarships provide 10% off course tuition and are reserved for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color artists in need.

    • To receive a BIPOC Scholarship, please indicate your need on your Canopy Program application.

  • Financial Aid / Extenuating Circumstances

    • NYC Crit Club provides discounts of 10-20% off course tuition for those who are in need due to unemployment, disability, and partial employment.

    • In extenuating circumstances, NYC Crit Club can subsidize larger amounts of tuition. Reach out to nyc.critclub@gmail.com directly for more details.

    • To receive Financial Aid, please indicate the amount you are seeking on your Canopy Program application. If accepted, you will be asked to provide your specific financial circumstances and your tax return.

  • The James Bernard Haggarty Scholarship

Refund Policy

Deposit Refund

  • The initial $500 deposit is refundable within five (5) business days.

Tuition Refund

  • If an artist needs to withdraw from the The Canopy Program, NYC Crit Club will offer 40% of the tuition paid back to the artist. The refund will only be granted if the withdraw occurs within first 10 days of the first semester.

  • After 10 days from the start date of the first semester, refunds will not be available.

  • If an artist needs to withdraw due to unforeseen extreme circumstances, they are welcome to submit a refund request explaining their situation to nyc.critclub@gmail.com. Refund requests will be reviewed and strongly considered, but please note refunds are not guaranteed. If an artist is granted a refund, they will only receive a percentage of the tuition paid.

Thank you for your understanding, our refund policy is to assure that all scheduled faculty, speakers, and critics will be able to be compensated and that administrative costs may be covered for the duration of this year-long program.
