Fall 2023 | Winter 2024 | Spring 2024
The artists featured below were accepted to the 2023-2024 year of The Canopy Program. Together, with the guidance of their Faculty Mentor, Jared Linge, the artists developed their studio practice through critiques, Artist Talks + Q&As, seminars, and workshops. The Canopy Program is a year-long commitment, this Cohort met virtually for three consecutive semesters. Their experience will culminate with a pop-up Group Show in Chelsea (NYC).

X + X + X and So Forth,” from the poem “I Mean” by Kate Colby, illustrates the multiplicity and decentering of meaning through repetition. Each line of her poem begins with the phrase “I mean”: Patterns of variation are woven and spun. I mean to say. I keep meaning to say, it begins: art as an utterance, filled with the purpose and standpoint of each artist. It goes on: I mean amending. I mean correcting. Attempts and trials get closer to intent. The title of this show is a reminder that there’s an additive and developmental effect to creative undertakings.
